Currently featured on AB.com, the new Compact GuardLogix 5370 is now available and in factory stock.
These new “safety” programmable controllers are essentially a “modern” version of Rockwell’s Compact Guardlogix line, now based on their popular 5370 architecture.
Users who migrate to these new models gain a USB port, SD Card slot (SD card included,) Dual Ethernet Ports (with DLR Support) and an embedded energy storage device (no battery needed,) all of which is also found in the standard 5370 CompactLogix processors.
These are also the first Compact GuardLogix processors which support Studio 5000 Logix Designer, currently with firmware available for version 28.
However, when migrating from the original Compact Guardlogix (L43S, L45s,) users will no longer have a built-in DB9 Serial Port, Keyed Run Switch, CompactFlash memory card slot, or support for RSLogix 5000.
More details about these three new models can be found in the below table:

Thanks for the info, I was actually just about to buy a L43S. It will be nice to finally move on from 20.03. Will they work with versions lower than 28? BTW the link for the Manual and the safety reference are the same.
Good morning Richard,
First, thanks for finding my typo! I’ll fix it now 🙂
As far as version support, the only firmware I could find online was version 28, so as of today it looks like that’s the only option.
And I haven’t seen them add previous version support to new products in the past, but I haven’t heard any specifics either way.
Thanks again,
Shawn Tierney

I only see v28 as well. The non-safety versions go from 21-28 (and beyond).
P.S. Check out v20.04 and you’ll have compatibility for 20.01 and 20.03 applications. It works great if you have to support both versions. I believe there is even an article about it on this blog.
I agree with Jeff – v20.04 is now my standard v20 version too!
