This morning we’re covering news about Opto22, Electromate, Robotiq, Copia, Process Automation, Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, CAN and more in today’s edition of Automation This Morning for Thursday, February 2, 2023.

First up is a press release from Opto22 here that they are again holding in-person training on the groovEPIC controllers.

Next we have a new product announcement here on the Electromate website about two new vacuum grippers from Robotiq.

On the Copia website here we have a new “git” tutorial, this one on the use and function of the “.gitignore” file.

And on the ISA’s website here we have a new article about Open Process Automation and the Open Process Automation Forum.

Today on the Grace blog here, they discuss the growing use of IIoT devices in Water and Waste Water applications, and how their GraceSense product helps these facilities with predictive maintenance.

This morning on the Rockwell website we also found two new articles. The first is a case study here which talks about an application that removes hydrogen sulfide from Biogas.

The other article here is about Lock Out Tag Out, and how it can be used to improve productivity.

In today’s product spotlight we’re highlighting The Automation School’s CompactLogix course, Compact Basics, which can be found here. Like all The Automation School’s online courses, Compact Basics comes with lifetime access and instructor support.

First up in downloads today is an update here to the Siemens S7 PLCSim Advanced Trial.

And the second download today is an update here for the AutomationML editor.

In our Pub Crawl today we found two new documents of interest. The first is a new brochure here for the Omron Ck3C PMAC Controller.

The other here is a new manual on the Omron Power PMAC EtherLite ARM product.

Today in our featured Audio/Video file, we have the latest episode of The Automation Podcast here, in which we interview Thiago Alves about OpenPLC.

And today we found one new event here which is a free workshop from “CAN in Automation” about CAN Physical Layers, and is being held on February 15th.

In our Q & A section today, we answer a reader’s question about using the USB port on A-B Programmable Controllers for uses other than programming, and you can find our response in the companion episode of the Automation Morning Show below.
