The PanelView 800 was on public display at Automation Fair this year, and here’s what I found out about it:
1) The PanelView 800 will release in three sizes
The new PanelView 800 will release in three display sizes: 4, 7, and 10 inch models.
2) The PanelView 800 will have higher resolution and run faster
Refreshed and updated, the PanelView 800 sports higher resolutions, faster boot time, and overall better performance when compared with the PanelView Component.
3) The PanelView 800 will run PanelView Component projects
In the future if you need to replace a PanelView Component with a PanelView 800, the current plan is for the PV800 to support projects previously created for PVc models.
4) The PanelView 800 supports “portrait mode”
At first I was skeptical about the usefulness of this feature, even back when it debuted on the PanelView Plus 6.
But after seeing it at the fair I do see the appeal in certain applications.
5) The PanelView 800 and CCW 8 will support new features
In the technical session, Rockwell representatives discussed two enhanced features the PV800 and CCW will support: Recipes and Symbol library.
6) The PanelView 800 is designed to work with Micros
Similar to the PanelView Component, the PanelView 800 is being designed to work with the Micro800 and MicroLogix line of controllers.
Unfortunately, at this point it doesn’t appear we’ll be getting CompactLogix support.
7) The PanelView 800 should be available late Spring, 2015
Finally, at the Fair we were told by a Rockwell representatives that the PanelView 800 should be available in late Spring, 2015.

So… this panel works only with micrologix and micro 800? there is no way to work with a higher level of cpu?

While Rockwell states the PV800 is “Optimized for compatibility with Micro800 and MicroLogix controllers,” you can also use it with SLC-500 and PLC-5 processors, as well as Modbus devices.
However, Rockwell does not support using this HMI with Compact and ControLogix, wish is a shame in my opinion!

Thank you…! now i have my first work with AB and i cant find to much information. I will choose a config CompactLogix + PV6. Its too much expensive but probably i will need the support.

Not sure of your I/O requirements, but a 1769-L16ER-BB1B CompactLogix with a 2711PC-T6C20D8 PVPlus 6 Compact would run around $2800 total.
And to your point, that is much more expensive than a Micro based system, even an A-B Micro850 or MicroLogix 1400 with a PV800 would be substantially less expensive.

What about the pricepoint? Comparable with the current PV C400, C600 and C1000?
Std serial and ethernet connection?

My understanding is the price point will be very similar, but we are still 4-6 months out.
I also believe it still has serial along with Ethernet as many of the MicroLogix are serial only as in the Micro830, but I’m trying to second source this.

I can confirm the units in the field currently being tested have Ethernet, and a serial DB9 and 5 position TB just like the PanelView Component.
We’ll find out more as the unit gets closer to being released.
