Your Daily Industrial Automation Update:

This morning we’re covering a new community project and well as new products, networks, network interfaces and cabling, and new literature in this edition of Automation This Morning for Friday, January 20, 2023.

First up is a new, public “crowd” project from the folks over at PLCnext. The goal of the “Beehyve” project is to get input from the community on new solutions to make beehives better for bees and beekeepers alike through automation. Learn all the details here.

Next up is a new article from the folks over at Softing about Ethernet-APL. The article covers the “why” of Single Pair Ethernet, as well as some of the architectures that Softing is developing products for, and you can read the article here.

Next is an article about training AI systems from WWT. The article does a great job of explaining how AI models get “pre-trained,” and can be read here.

From AI to Anybus, our next story is about a Robot Tool Manufacturer who needed to find a quick and affordable way to add Fieldbus connectivity to it’s Robot Tools. In the article from Anybus here, they walk through how they helped this customer by developing a new PROFINET IRT communications board (show below.)

No physical network is complete without the physical cabling, and over the last 24 hours Leviton has announced two new CAT 6A cables: Once with the smallest diameter on the market, and the other for outdoor use. You’ll find the details of these new Leviton Cat 6A products here.

Also recently announced are two refreshed products from ESD. Below you can see both their PROFINET to CAN, and their PROFINET to CANopen products, and you’ll find the details on both here.As far as new literature released since yesterday’s article, today we have four new documents from Rockwell Automation.

First up are three newly updated Getting Results Guides, one each for FTLinx Gateway, FTLinx Data Bridge, and RSLinx Classic.

The other document is a application guide for, “Safely-limited Position with Rollover via a GuardLogix Controller,” which can be found here.

In our product spotlight today we’re highlighting our Micro800 Online Training Course, Nano Basics.

Like our other courses, this course comes with lifetime access and support, and the Extended Level 1 & 2 Edition also comes with bonus videos and a free upgrade to the Ultimate Edition that we start filming this summer. To learn more, click here.
