What is a safety instrumented system?:

Their Safety Instrumented System (SIS) is characterized by a highly resilient triple modular redundant (TMR) structure, with over 1 billion safe operating hours without a recorded dangerous failure on demand. The integration of Schneider Electric’s TÜV Rheinland-certified SIS into a facility minimizes operational risk and facilitates uninterrupted safe operation.
The SIS is composed of three fundamental components: sensors that identify initiating events, logic solvers that decide the reaction to threats, and final elements that restore processes to a safe condition.
