PlantPAx Process Control Instructions by Rockwell Automation

PlantPAx Process Control Instructions:

A recent publication from Rockwell Automation has introduced a manual that equips programmers with comprehensive details about each PlantPAx process instruction available for Logix-based controllers. The manual further provides advice and examples for the observation and handling of discrete and analog inputs and outputs for device management.

Rockwell Automation recognizes that some terminology used in their industry and publications does not align with the ongoing shift towards inclusive language in technology. They are actively working with industry colleagues to identify alternatives to such terms and are updating their products and content accordingly. They request patience and understanding as these changes are being made to their content.

In addition, Rockwell Automation publishes legal notices, which include privacy policies, license agreements, trademark disclosures, and other terms and conditions, on the Legal Notices section of their website.

Empowering Data Center Growth by Inductive Automation

Empowering Data Center Growth:

A recent piece by Inductive Automation emphasized the rapid expansion of data centers over the past ten years. This growth was initially sparked by organizations migrating their computing resources to the cloud, and the trend has since accelerated. The escalating demand for computational power, especially due to the advent of AI, has put data center enlargement in the spotlight. The need for increased data center capacity is clear, whether for hyperscalers or colocation owners.

One of the primary hurdles in expanding data centers is the management of significant power and cooling needs. As data centers grow, so do their power and cooling requirements. In the current fast-paced market, data center operators need a building and power management system that is easy to handle, scalable, and quick to deploy.

Enter BW Design Group, one of the largest System Integrators in the US, renowned for its proficiency in designing and implementing systems customized to the specific needs of data centers. They utilize Ignition by Inductive Automation for clients in this sector due to its efficient system management and monitoring, scalability, and quick deployment capabilities.

In a forthcoming post, BW Design Group will divulge their strategies, insights, and best practices for leveraging the power of Ignition in data centers. Stay tuned for more information on how companies are addressing the burgeoning demands of the data center industry.

What is a safety instrumented system? by Schneider Electric

What is a safety instrumented system?:

A recent publication from Schneider Electric highlights that EcoStruxure Triconex Safety and Critical Control has been at the forefront of safety and critical control solutions for four decades. Their Safety Instrumented System (SIS) is characterized by a highly resilient triple modular redundant (TMR) structure, with over 1 billion safe operating hours without a recorded dangerous failure on demand. The integration of Schneider Electric’s TÜV Rheinland-certified SIS into a facility minimizes operational risk and facilitates uninterrupted safe operation.

The SIS is composed of three fundamental components: sensors that identify initiating events, logic solvers that decide the reaction to threats, and final elements that restore processes to a safe condition. Through the execution of safety instrumented functions, an SIS aids in lowering risks to a tolerable level, safeguarding individuals, production, and the environment. EcoStruxure Triconex SIS systems comply with IEC 61508 functional safety standards, guaranteeing adherence to international safety regulations and best practices in process safety management.

Vision to Reality: Industrial Gen-AI Revolution by Rockwell Automation

Vision to Reality: Industrial Gen-AI Revolution:

A recent piece from Rockwell Automation highlights the importance of Generative AI (GenAI) as a key technological investment for the manufacturing industry. GenAI uses AI methodologies to learn from existing data and generate new, unique outputs that mirror the original data without replicating it. This technology is set to play a significant role in addressing the shortage of skilled labor in the manufacturing sector, a point stressed in the State of Smart Manufacturing Report.

The report, which gathered insights from more than 1,500 manufacturers, pinpoints the lack of a skilled workforce as a major issue for the sector. To tackle this problem, a number of manufacturers are turning to cutting-edge technologies like GenAI to fill the void and enhance productivity without replacing human workers.

In the coming three years, GenAI is anticipated to significantly influence key areas such as quality control and risk mitigation, especially in the realm of cybersecurity. Quality control is forecasted to become the main application for AI and machine learning in 2024. The increasing demand for industrial applications incorporating GenAI indicates its swift ascent on the technology priority ladder, as manufacturers seek to harness its transformative potential to improve operations.
