STEP 7 Safety Basic in conjunction with TIA Portal V20:
Siemens recently revealed in an article that the introduction of the S7-1200 G2 and TIA Portal V20 to the market will allow customers to develop their safety programs without the need for an extra STEP 7 Safety Basic license. Consequently, Siemens will cease to offer STEP 7 Safety Basic, STEP 7 Safety Basic Upgrade, and STEP 7 Safety Advanced Powerpack. The STEP 7 V20 Basic / Professional license will be modified to incorporate Step 7 Safety Basic as a core feature.
This modification implies that starting with TIA Portal V20, a SIMATIC STEP 7 Safety Basic license will no longer be necessary to manage a failsafe S7-1200 / S7-1200 G2 in the TIA Portal.
