Why Choose An On-machine Solution? by Rockwell Automation

Why Choose An On-machine Solution?:

In a recent article from Rockwell Automation, it was highlighted that an On-Machine™ solution offers a decentralized equipment design approach, helping to overcome challenges associated with cabinet-based solutions for end users.

This approach aims to meet aggressive timelines, decrease installation costs, reduce exposure to risk, and increase system value. By adopting a simpler, more modular approach to machine design, total costs can be lowered, floor space saved, and deployment time minimized. Quick connect technology further speeds up design installation and maintenance, improving productivity and flexibility, while the environmental robustness of On-Machine solutions helps reduce the risk of failure.

IO Device Library by Rockwell Automation

IO Device Library:

In a recent article from Rockwell Automation, it was highlighted that their Device Object Libraries enable easy interfacing with Rockwell Automation intelligent devices such as drives, motion, network switches, sensors, IO, and more. These libraries consist of tested, documented, and lifecycle-managed objects, which can be utilized with machine builder, process, and packaged libraries, or as standalone components.

Notably, these device objects include HMI faceplates for FactoryTalk® View ME/SE and Studio 5000 View Designer® software, offering a user interface that seamlessly integrates with the products. HMI faceplates are standard display files that provide a common user interface. They are essentially HMI pop-up screens used to display detailed information related to a specific instruction or device. In systems following ISA 101.1 design guidelines, faceplates are often referred to as Level 4 displays.

Hands protection – Functional Safety by LinMot

Hands protection – Functional Safety:

In a recent LinMot article, customers, including Mr. Kaifel, praised the C1250 servo drives for maintaining the same motor dimensions as the standard version in the 2S variant. This feature eliminates the need for additional hardware, as all safety monitoring is integrated into the drive itself. The drives now offer expanded functionalities such as Safe Stop 2 (SS2), Safe Operation Stop (SOS), Safe Limited Speed (SLS), and Safe Brake Control (SBC/SBT), in addition to the STO (Safe Stop) and SS1 already available on the 1S version. Notably, SBC now includes a Brake Test (SBT) for cyclic checking of the braking effect.

The linear motors, like the drive controller, are designed for functional safety. The most commonly used sizes come with safe encoders, and the 2S motors (stators and sliders) are externally identical, eliminating the need for an additional sensor. They connect to the drive using a single cable solution for safe drive control.
