According to a new Blog on Rockwell’s website, Festo ‘s CPX-AP-I decentralized I/O brings increased responsiveness and diagnostics to pneumatic systems and includes an L5X file export for faster and simpler programming in Studio 5000.

Some of the specs listed in the article included that the CPX-AP-I I/O includes EtherNet/IP  connectivity and is rated for IP65/IP67.

The design also include communication and power coming from two separate connection cables, and the system has the following benchmarks:

  • 2K of I/O process data

  • 80 or more modules per system

  • Parallel data processing of real-time data

  • Bus cycle times < 500µs

  • Enhanced diagnostics / condition monitoring

  • Time Synchronization
