  1. Fanuc announced a new partnership with Rockwell at IMTS. I was wondering when that partnership was going to have some products/applications.

    • Morning Tom,

I heard of that too – I’ll stop by and ask the Fanuc guys and let you know what they say,

      • Tom,

I talked to the Fanuc folks yesterday and they stated that their would be new products coming, but currently the only thing they could announce was a new Enhanced Data Access which is described on their website as:

EDA (Enhanced Data Access) enables easy sharing of data between the robot and an Allen Bradley PLC using an EtherNet IP connection. This option allows the user to easily setup the data to be shared from the robot teach pendant, and output a file from the robot which can be directly loaded into the PLC programming tool. EDA makes integration of advanced functions between the robot and PLC much easier and quicker than previous methods.

I also found this new feature on their website but which the rep didn’t mention to me:

Fanuc announces CIP Safety functionality with the new EtherNet/IP Adapter Safety function for the FANUC Series 3xi-B CNCs that enables safety communication with Rockwell Automation controller (Logix PAC) systems at Automation Fair 2014, Booth #151.

        Hope this helps,

  2. I got one more if you find any of the big-wigs there: why has the list pricing disappeared from the Product Selection/Configuration pages on the website. I often use those prices with I need to do a quick estimate for a project.

    • That’s another good question – thanks!

I believe as an alternative you can use the free Proposal Works download, but I also wish the list pricing would return to the web,

      • Tom,

I talked to the Proposal Works folks yesterday at Automation Fair and here’s what they said:

        – There was an internal issue getting the pricing onto the website, so they disabled the displaying of list pricing until they could get it fixed. They say it is now fixed and list pricing is back on http://www.AB.com (I have not yet checked myself)

        – They also confirmed Proposal Works does provide list pricing to anyone who downloads it.

        Hope this helps!

  3. Could you give us a update about the “Compact GuardLogix” future. What product are going to be replaced in the near future?

    • Good morning Pascal,

Rumor is it’s coming in 2015, but I didn’t see anything about at the Fair, nor have I heard anything about it except that a 5370 version is in development.

If I hear anything else (not covered by an NDA) I’ll be sure to post an article about it,

      Shawn Tierney
